First Nesting Attempt by Reintroduced Trumpeter Swans

These five eggs are the first documented nesting attempt by a three-year-old swan who was translocated to Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge in 1963. The nest was abandoned later that season. The following year would mark the first successful Refuge's first successful nest since the start of the Trumpeter Swan reintroduction project started in 1960.
