A le帽ero bucks a thinned tree into firewood for home heating. Le帽ero are local woodcutters who thinn their allocated blocks according to a Forest Service silviculturist鈥檚 prescription. This helps reduce the likelihood of high-severity wildfire in areas near the communities of San Cristobal and Valdez and provides communities with firewood for home heating and sale.
