This submission checklist is provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), New Jersey Field Office (NJFO) to assist with project reviews pursuant to Section 7 Section 7
Section 7 Consultation
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) directs all Federal agencies to work to conserve endangered and threatened species and to use their authorities to further the purposes of the Act. Section 7 of the Act, called "Interagency Cooperation," is the mechanism by which Federal agencies ensure the actions they take, including those they fund or authorize, do not jeopardize the existence of any listed species.
Learn more about Section 7 (a)(2) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) (87 Stat. 884, as amended; 16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.). This optional form can be used to track the ESA determination for each species. If/when project review by the NJFO is necessary, this form can be submitted with a request for Section 7 consultation or technical assistance to help ensure transmission of all necessary information. Please do not submit requests for project review to the NJFO until you have carefully reviewed and completed all steps listed under the NJFO Project Review Guide.
