The timing of the 30-day in-season closures for spring/summer subsistence migratory bird harvest in the Northern Unit of the North Slope Region have been modified to the following based on current environmental and biological conditions:
Northern Unit
- The harvest of birds and their eggs, other than eiders, will be closed from June 27 through July 26, 2025.
- For eiders and their eggs, the fixed annual 30-day closure remains unchanged. Dates are posted HERE.
Eastern Unit
- The fixed annual 30-day closure for the Eastern Unit remains unchanged. Dates are posted HERE.
Southern Unit
The fixed annual 30-day closure for the Southern Unit remains unchanged. Dates are posted HERE.
The Alaska Migratory Bird Co-Management Council (AMBCC) requested changes to closure dates based on consultation with the North Slope Borough (NSB) Department of Wildlife Management and reports by hunters that birds were nesting later than normal this spring.
The AMBCC is a co-management body that includes representatives from 10 Tribal regions, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
