Operation of any type of motor vehicle or motor equipment is prohibited without documenting vehicle/equipment authorization on and the successful completion of the safety training listed below and as specified in other applicable Service policies (e.g., 243 FW 1-6 and 321 FW 1). All training must be properly documented for employees and volunteers in the Department of the Interior鈥檚 learning management system (i.e., ).

*Defense Driving (DD) Training 鈥� For those required to take DD training, operators must successfully complete an approved course (i.e., ). This is an online, 4-hour requirement that operators must take every 3 years. Operators who are already authorized to drive when this policy is published, but who have not had defensive driving training in the 3 years prior to publication, must take the training.
