While there are no maintained trails on Black Coulee NWR, visitors are encouraged to get out and walk the prairies to view and listen to the likes of Baird鈥檚 sparrows, Sprague鈥檚 pipits, western meadowlarks, horned larks, northern harriers, and various waterfowl. The native prairie and wetland offer great varieties of plant species, and the open space offers the 鈥榖ig sky鈥 feeling Montana has to offer.
