Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge provides ample opportunity for hunting. Public hunting is permitted on approximately 5,000 acres in New Jersey and 160 acres in New York in accordance with those states鈥� seasons. Some special regulations apply. All hunters must obtain a refuge hunting permit, in addition to state licenses, before scouting and hunting. Refuge hunt permits are valid for the New Jersey and New York tracts of the refuge. There is an ammunition incentive program currently available to all Wallkill River NWR permitted hunters. Through the incentive program, you can try lead-free hunting ammunition alternatives for free or at a reduce cost. Submit receipts to receive a gift card for up to $25 per box of lead-free hunting ammunition (shotgun or muzzleloader). First come, first served. Limit 2 boxes of ammunition per eligible hunter.

- Photo of purchased box(es) of lead-free hunting ammunition, and
- Your purchase receipt(s)
