With sea turtle nesting season beginning on the Texas coast in late March, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is urging everyone using Texas beaches to do their part to help detect and protect threatened and endangered sea turtles on the beach.

As nesting season begins in late March, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service urges Texas beach visitors to stay vigilant, drive slowly and avoid disturbing nest sites to help protect imperiled sea turtles, including the endangered Kemp's ridley and the threatened loggerhead and green sea turtles.

In September, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and partners will release a rehabilitated Kemp’s ridley sea turtle named “Tally� from Galveston into the Gulf of Mexico for a second chance at life. Tally was found stranded and near death on the distant shores of Talacre in Northern Wales in 2021.
