About Riley Vance

Riley Vance is an interpretive fellow at the Inland Northwest National Wildlife Refuge Complex and is hosted by the Great Basin Institute. Her duties focus on the development of thematic interpretive matrices for three national wildlife refuges. The content of these matrices will be applied to short- and long-term planning throughout the entire Complex and influence the design of future programs, signage, and brochures.

Riley has a Bachelor of Science degree in Outdoor Recreation Education and Administration through Weber State University. She also holds a Certified Interpretive Guide certification through the National Association for Interpretation (NAI).

Previously, Riley has worked as a Park Ranger with Salt Lake City Corp., Spotted Owl Surveyor, Desert Tortoise Surveyor, and Aviary Summer Camp Educator.

She has a love of volunteering and regularly fosters with her local animal shelter. Past volunteer experience includes spending a month living in a tent and offering visitor services in Yosemite National Park and spending 3 months in the jungles of Costa Rica working on wildlife rehabilitation.

"I love the natural world and the inhabitants and ecosystems within and find fulfillment working towards goals that protect and preserve these things."
