About Vona Kuczynska

Although I participate in national coordination roles, my consultation responsibilities are limited to Missouri. For bat-related questions or ESA compliance needs outside Missouri, please contact your local U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Ecological Services Field Office.

As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service鈥檚 Missouri Ecological Services Field Office, I conduct Endangered Species Act (ESA) section 7 consultations within Missouri, working with federal agencies to evaluate and minimize project impacts on federally listed species. My work emphasizes bat ecology and conservation, supporting science-based decisions through survey implementation and habitat management.

I serve as the National Recovery Coordinator for the gray bat (Myotis grisescens) and grotto sculpin (Cottus specus), and contribute to national bat conservation efforts as a member of the Service鈥檚 Range-wide Bat Survey Guidelines Team. I also instruct the Evaluating Acoustic Bat Surveys for ESA Compliance course at the National Conservation Training Center.
