COURSE SESSION
Target Audience:
This training workshop is aimed at Service staff who collect, analyze, view or maintain scientific data. Staff from field stations, Regional Offices and Headquarters who work with raw or processed data at any level are the target audience.
Summary and Objectives:
Train, Prepare, and Engage for adaptive conservation decision making in the twenty-first century. To build a conservation legacy we need to shift agency culture and approaches to data management.
The workshop will support this shift by:
- Training specific skills and building knowledge about all things data and data management
- Prepare employees to champion data management best practices in their daily work
- Engage leadership, supervisors, and staff to promote a common understanding of roles and responsibilities, requirements, and how to communicate needs and advocate for high quality data to make decisions
This workshop is an opportunity to develop skills, collaborate and network within the data management community, to share and hear about important news, policies, and tools, and to produce tangible products that make a difference in the way data management is done in the Service. 鈥�

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate new skills and competencies with data management planning, creating data management plans, generating automated reports, improving data accessibility, and improving data quality
- Engage with the Service鈥檚 data management community to improve data management integration across USFWS programs and functions
