The refuge hosts a limited September Canada Goose management hunt, in accordance with New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife (NJDFW) regulations, from September 1st 鈥 September 30th. This special season targets resident Canada Geese, which degrade habitat over time and compete with migratory geese and waterfowl for vital resources. The hunt will be occurring in the man-made wetland impoundments located east of Pleasant Plains Road and West of Long Hill Road; this area is not open to hiking by visitors at any time of year. Hiking trails on the refuge will remain open as normal, with visitors advised to stay on designated hiking trails. Hunters are not required to wear blaze orange while goose hunting; visitors may wear blaze orange should they so choose.
