Overview
Nototrichium humile, a member of the Amaranthaceae (amaranth) family, is an upright to trailing shrub with branched stems up to 1.5 m (5 ft) long. Stems and young leaves are covered with short hairs. Leaves are oppositely arranged. oval to oblong in outline, 3 to 9 cm (1.2 to 3.5 in) long, and 2 to 5 cm (0.8 to 2.0 in) wide. Stalkless flowers are arranged in a spike 3 to 14 cm (1.2 to 5.5 in) long and are at the ends of the stem. Membranous bracts grow below each flower. Two of the bracts and the sepals fall off with the mature fruit, which is 2 mm (0.08 in ) long.
