Virtual Public Hearing on the Proposed Listing of the Blue Tree Monitor

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) will hold a virtual public hearing on July 31, 2025, from 12:00â€�2:00 pm EDT. This virtual public hearing is intended to give the public an opportunity to learn more about the proposed listing of the blue tree monitor (Varanus macraei) as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, and provide a forum for the Service to receive verbal comments from the public on the proposed listing. 

The virtual public hearing will be held on the Zoom online platform. Participants may join by computer or phone. 

The virtual public hearing will start with a brief presentation by Service staff followed by an opportunity for attendees to provide verbal comments. Commenters may have an allotted time period to provide comments.

In addition, written public comments may be submitted via�, Docket No. FWS-HQ-ES-2023-0033. Comments previously submitted need not be resubmitted and all written comments submitted via regulations.gov and all verbal comments provided during the public hearing will be fully considered in preparation of the final rule.

We recommend that members of the public log into the Zoom platform 5 minutes prior to the start of the hearing to ensure they can connect. If using the phone-only option, participants will be able to listen to the virtual public hearing, but they will not be able to view the presentation. Instructions will be given regarding how participants will be able to provide their comments.

For security purposes, registration is required. To listen and view the hearing via Zoom, listen to the hearing by telephone, or provide verbal public comment during the hearing by Zoom or telephone, you must register.
