Texas Water Resources Institute

The Texas Water Resources Institute (TWRI) has helped solve Texas� water issues through research, education and outreach for 72 years.

Established in 1952, TWRI became the state’s official water resources institute in 1964. Today, they are one of 54 institutes within the National Institutes for Water Resources, supported by the U.S. Geological Survey. They are a unit of Texas A&M AgriLife Research, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M.

We frequently partner with academia to further the conservation of and research into the stewardship of many species.

We often partner with non-governmental conservation organizations on conservation projects, whether it's to conserve identified species such as the monarch butterfly or to advise on land acquisition for conservation so that it has the greatest benefit for species.
