SEATTLE � The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Office of Law Enforcement is seeking information regarding the death of a federally protected sea otter (Enhydra lutris) and is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest, criminal conviction or civil penalty assessment.
In February of 2025, a male sea otter was found dead on the beach north of Oyehut, Washington. The sea otter had sustained bruising over its entire body and its hind feet were bound. Sea otters are federally protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
An investigation is being led by the Service. Anyone with information about this case may remain anonymous and should call 808-861-8525 or 844-FWS-TIPS, or submit a web form at /wildlife-crime-tips.
