The most popular place to scuba dive is King Spring near Banana Island. Scuba diving is allowed at King Spring year-round. During manatee season November 15 - March 31, the sanctuaries are closed to all activity, so scuba diving is only permitted within the "keyhole" marked by buoys or in areas outside of the sanctuary.
Scuba diving at Three Sisters Spring is permitted only from April 1 to November 14. Snorkeling is a year-round activity at the springs. Visitors can rent or use their own equipment, but guided tours are the most popular way to experience the springs. Snorkelers are not permitted to enter the marked manatee sanctuaries or go on the shore. It is also recommended that snorkelers refrain from walking on the bottom as this stirs up sediment and reduces visibility. Remember to watch the video before your visit.
