Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1946 to provide habitat for migratory birds, wildlife, and plants native to the area.
Fall Hunting Dates

Dove-Rabbit-Squirrel: September 1st-30th  -Pick up a permit/regulations at the visitor center or at one of the hunting units on the refuge.

Eurasian Collared-Dove

There is no closed season or bag limit restrictions for Eurasian collared-doves; however, it is recommended that plumage be left on these birds for identification purposes. The Eurasian Collared-Dove is classified as invasive by the (TPWD) because it is a non-native species that competes with native birds for resources, aggressively displaces them from food sources, can threaten agriculture, and is associated with human-modified habitats.

White Tailed Deer: November 7th-9th, November 21st-23rd, December 5th-7th (Drawn Hunt)

Rabbit-Squirrel: January 1st - February 28th -Pick up a permit/regulations at the visitor center or at one of the hunting units on the refuge.

      Our Species

      Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge boasts an abundance of birds and wildlife native to the north Texas area. From colorful painted buntings and red-headed woodpeckers, to playful river otters and majestic bald eagles, there is always something to see on the refuge.
