Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1946 to provide habitat for migratory birds, wildlife, and plants native to the area.
Roads Closed - Most Trails Closed - Visitor Center Remains Open

Update: Latest projections place the Refuge on pace to re-open all impacted areas in July

The lake is receding and we now have opened Goode Day Use Area and the associated Hallers Haven Trail. The majority of the trail is still flooded. It's a 10 minute drive to get there from the visitor center. Sandy Point Day Use Area remains open as well but is only accessible using Highway 901. All major Refuge access points remain closed including Bennett Lane, Refuge Road, and Wildlife Drive. The visitor center remains open.
