The majority of the refuge beach is now closed for nesting piping plovers. A small portion of beach remains open for public use at Lot 1 only, and all marsh-side trails, boardwalks, and overlooks remain open for use. Thank you for respecting closed areas so our most vulnerable visitors can thrive. To find a list of alternative beaches in our area, please check out our online guide.

The best way to stay up-to-date on all things refuge is by signing up for our newsletter. Monthly newsletters go out on the first of every month, with recent highlights, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and more! .
Visit Us
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service welcomes you to Parker River National Wildlife Refuge! National wildlife refuges offer us all a chance to unplug from the stresses of daily life and reconnect with our natural surroundings. Here, you can enjoy excellent wildlife-dependent recreational activities, including surf-fishing, wildlife observation and photography, a variety of interpretive programs, and seasonal waterfowl and deer hunting opportunities. A large visitor center - complete with a classroom and auditorium - supports many of these public uses.
