The Refuge Main Entrance Road is open again. Traffic flow is now reinstated to normal conditions. Visitors can now access the refuge through the Main Entrance Road. Marshland Access is closed to vehicle traffic and open to pedestrians and bicyclists.

This 6,808 acre refuge lies within the Mississippi River. The rolling prairies, rich wetlands and bottomland forests support a variety of wildlife species. These backwaters of the river provide resting and feeding areas for both waterfowl and other birds.
