Cyrtandra gracilis, a member of the Gesneriaceae (African violet) family, is a shrub with opposite leaves, elliptic-ovate, 11.5 to 22 cm (4.5 to 8.7 in) long and 3.6 to 6.6 cm (1.4 to 2.6 in) wide, both surfaces sparsely covered with which subsessile glands, becoming glabrate (without glands). Leaf margins are serrate and the petioles are 2.5 to 8.5 cm (1 to 3 in) long. Flowers are in open umbelliform, 1- to 7-flowered cymes (inflorescence with terminal flower blooming first) arising in leaf axils, sparsely covered with subsessile glands. The corolla is white with a cylindrical tube 22 to 24 mm (0.9 in) long, also with subsessile glands. Berries are white, narrowly ovoid, 2.3 to 2.5 cm (0.9 to 1 in) long.
