Latest Stories

A simplified food web with the words, Edwards Aquifer, Texas simplified food web. Producers are on the bottom of the web and include CLAMs and decaying plants. The primary consumers are comas springs dryopid beetle, water slater and cave shrimp and are found on top of the Producers box. Secondary consumers include Peck's cave amphipod and is found on top of the primary consumer box. Tertiary consumers is the Texas blind salamander and is found on top of the secondary consumer box. .

Left, Joe Lester Chesser and his grandson Andrew stand in front of the old Homestead site that is now part of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. Joe, 89, grew up there and left when the refuge took over in 1971. Today Andrew works for the American Conservation Experience taking care of 120 canoe trails in the refuge.
