Buskin River Mouth Area Federal Subsistence Fishery for Sockeye Salmon
The Federal in-season manager, pursuant to delegated authority from the Federal Subsistence Board under the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) section 816, will issue an emergency special action (SA-9-SS-1-25) to allow the use of gillnet to liberalize fishing for Sockeye Salmon to all federally qualified subsistence users in Federal public waters of the Buskin River mouth area, effective 12:01am Wednesday June 18. This action is necessary to prevent over escapement of Sockeye Salmon into the Buskin River.
The biological escapement goal for Buskin River Sockeye Salmon is 5,000 for the lower escapement goal and 8,000 for the upper escapement goal. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game fishery managers have implemented reduced closures for subsistence and sportfish on June 18, 2025.
