Successful Kids' Fishing Rodeo

Families Come together for Kids' Fishing Rodeo
You do not want to miss next year Kids' Fishing Rodeo

On Saturday June 7th, the Annual Kids' Fishing Rodeo was held at Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery under the bright, sunny skies. The event brought together 200+ excited young anglers, aged 1 to 15, to enjoy a day of fishing, learning, and fun! Kids from all over the community gathered to show off their fishing skills, compete for awesome prizes, and, most importantly, learn about the great outdoors.

The day was filled with laughs, fish caught, and new friendships formed. Whether it was a first catch or the biggest fish of the day, everyone had a memorable time. The Fishing Rodeo also highlighted the importance of conservation and safety while enjoying nature.

This was made happen by the help of several partners, Friends of Dale Hollow NFH, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Clay County Tennessee just to name a few, came together to put on a day of food, fun and of cores catching fish.

The Friends of Dale Hollow NFH set up the sign in table and food tables also suppling water to everyone. They collected donations of hot dogs from Ollie's Restaurant and Gone Country Restaurant.

Fred Clon, from Daton, Tennessee, donated 20 watermelons, cookies and chips. This was greatly appreciated eating cold watermelon on a hot day.

Again, this year the family of Donna Carter Thacker donated 300 fishing poles and made a monetary donation to the Friends of Dale Hollow NFH for future successful Kids' Fishing Rodeos.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers set up a funny picture taking opportunity along with handing out goodies and great information.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency also handed out goodies and assisted the young anglers with pole set up and fish removal.

Congratulations to Macie Upchurch, who reeled in a massive trout, weighing 7.3 pounds! This was the catch of the day and a hard-earned victory.

Most weight of 7 Fish Caught was Charle Kate Cole, who caught 6.4 pounds! Great job staying on the water and keeping your focus!

The kids and their families also enjoyed some extra outdoor fun! Aside from fishing, families were invited to take a nature walk around the creek and the park rangers were able to share fascinating facts about local wildlife.

The Kids鈥 Fishing Rodeo was an absolute success! It was a day filled with laughter, excitement, and lots of fish stories. Everyone from the youngest participants to the seasoned anglers learned something new and had a blast doing it.

We are already looking forward to next year鈥檚 event, where we鈥檒l have even more fun, more fish, and more memories to create. Until then, keep your lines tight and your spirits high鈥攕ee you next year at the next Kids' Fishing Rodeo!
